Studio Session 2 Reflection

This second studio session helped me get a better grasp on what E-Estonia is all about. Our group did more research on its development, benefits and what it has to offer its members. We concluded that there are two different types of people who get the most out of E-Estonia; physical Estonian residents and people that don't live in Estonia but have a digital citizenship. Those that live in Estonia reap all that E-Estonia has to offer. From paying parking tickets on your mobile phone to electronic voting and digital signatures, they get it all. Their lives are completely online, making Estonia one of the most high tech countries in the world. On the other hand, those that live in England will usually pursue a digital citizenship for economic purposes. This system is great for entrepreneurs. Once your business is registered, you can easily check company records, pay taxes and run your business from a far. This is not only good for international business but also domestic. The Estonian economy will benefit tremendously from these programs. This distinction creates a divide between the two types of citizens and is similar to that of Eritrea where there is confusion over what the boundaries of the state are.

Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed the style and format of this class. The brief two minute presentations allowed me to further understand all of the other topics and their relation to current events and content we have covered in class. It was a very informative and helpful class.
