Weekly Report 2
This week, our studio session focused on the organization of our research up to this point. This was slightly difficult for us, as there aren't too many "events" that have occurred within the Wikileaks space. Overall, just a couple dispersions of information have made the public knowledge, even though their Twitter account shows a more continual schedule of releasing information. It is interesting though to notice the effect that the extraditions/charges and funding dilemmas have had on Wikileaks. Wikileaks hasn't had as monumental leaks recently as it once did in 2012. Since Wikileaks largely relies on crowdsourcing information, I wonder if the political charges have influenced other potential whistleblowers. Still, Wikileaks seems to have a well managed organization/protocols to follow to ensure that the whistleblowers are avoiding persecution. Overall, I felt that Wikileaks had some strong themes revolving around transparency and journalism vs. social media that I am intrigued by and want to pursue looking into.
