Conduct Collaborative Research

  1. Find stories on the web relating to your group’s topic
    1. Focus on primary and secondary sources, such as newspaper stories or blog entries
    2. Look for stories that involve social media and key communicative events
  2. Put entries in Diigo and tag them with your group's name as we did before
    1. e.g. @ISIS, @wikileaks for your project
    2. Also create tags for people, places, events, etc.
  3. At the end of the session, look at the work of your group mates and discuss what you have found
    1. What are the common events and themes?
    2. Use this information when creating your reflection post.
  4. Write an "article," or reflective post about your in-class research experience
    1. Go to the "Articles" tab and click on the link to create a new article.
    2. Write a 200 to 400 words, i.e. a fat paragraph, about what you learned and discussed in your group. What caught your interest? What are you thinking about pursuing further?
    3. It must be posted by 5:00 PM Friday, but better if early. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE WEEKEND.
    4. To get full credit for the project, you must complete these.
